If there was one thing Danny Garcia had learned in fighting Ivan Redkach, it is how a southpaw box.
Garcia dominated Redkach in a lopsided 12-round decision win and get an early insight if his fight against Manny Pacquiao would turn into reality.
“Well Manny is definitely in a southpaw stance but Manny has a certain type of style that is hard to train for so you got to go and make adjustments,” he said at the post-fight press conference.
“But definitely when you fight a southpaw it definitely gives you a look. Different ways and punches coming from a different angle so it definitely gives you the right look to fight another southpaw,” he added.
Pacquiao is on the top of Garcia’s list as well as the unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.
But aside from learning the approach of a southpaw, Garcia had a rare experience inside the ring with Redkach. It was when the opponent bites Garcia in the neck area.
“I thought a mosquito got me,” the calm and smiling Garcia responded.
“Then I looked over and he’s biting me. I think I’m the second fighter in history to be bitten right?
Indeed he was. The first occurrence was when Mike Tyson bit and cut the ear of Evander Holyfield.
“Evander Holyfield and Danny Garcia put me in the history books,” the 31 years old Garcia added.
