Mike Tyson vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr., are one of the biggest “what ifs” in boxing.
Top of the best boxers in the history of the sport.
But they can only fight through our imaginations.
However, Mike Tyson once said that if he is given a chance to fight any boxer in any division, it would be Mayweather.
He was being interviewed back then, and he quickly told Mayweather’s name as his answer.
“Well, I would love to have fought him. I wish he were my weight,” Tyson said.
Aside from different eras, Tyson was fighting in the heavyweight division while Mayweather’s highest class was lightweight.
But Tyson revealed what his game plan would be in fighting the unbeaten Mayweather.
“We can never fight, of course, because of the weight difference, but I wouldn’t fight him the way they fought him […].
“I would be mean; I would be dirty because you’d have to do everything to fight him because he’s just so good. You can’t get almost impossible to fight him clean.
“It’s almost impossible to fight him clean. You can’t fight him clean. You can’t fight this guy clean.”
Fighting dirty is commonly referred to as Mayweather, but Tyson has high praise for him.
He will fight dirty because he can’t beat Mayweather in a regular fight.
Tyson also has that attitude to fight dirty. We can clearly remember his infamous ear bite against his rival Evander Holyfield.
His plan is not evil. Fight dirt with dirt. Mayweather is an intelligent and creative fighter.
Tyson would fight ruggedly in, able to win. Despite his heavy punches, he knows how good Mayweather is. His defense is sporadic to be penetrated.
Then came another what if.
What if Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, and other boxers Mayweather beaten fought dirty? Will it increase their chances to put a loss on Mayweather’s career finally?
Well, it is too late now.
But Tyson vs. Mayweather is a jaw-dropping match just by saying it.
