Bruno Mars topped all the other artist with his upbeat funk and soul-catching R&B after he bags all the major categories in the recently concluded Grammy Awards. It was a magical night for the American singer-songwriter as 24K Magic won the major categories with the Album of the Year and Record of the Year accolades.

Aside from the that winnings, Mars’ “That’s Why I Like It” took home the Song of the Year- a songwriter choice award- with his seven other co-writers. This trend of having a group of specialized songwriters proved to be effective as many other artists are already using this method of producing new songs.

Mars swept all of his six nominations, finishing the night with a total of 6 Grammys Award.

Compton-native rapper Kendrick Lamar is the second big winner that night after owning all the rap categories with his prized album “DAMN”. Lamar’s has been known for his sharp and meaningful verses preaching about religion, politics and black social life in America.

During Mr. Lamar’s acceptance speech, he called out his inspiration as an artist including his fellow nominee Jay-Z, which by a surprise by many did not take home any award with his eight Grammys nomination.

Alessia Cara stunned many as she rose as the recipient of the Best New Artist award. She outlasted the likes of Khalid, Lil Uzi Vert, Julia Michaels and SZA for the coveted award. Many detractors started a backlash about Ms. Cara’s win but the 21-year-old Canadian songstress addressed the issue with a lengthy message on her Instagram account.

In the night of the 60th Grammys Award, audiences and critics-alike where waiting for the #MeToo movement to be discuss during the awards night, singer Kesha put her heart in performance with her song “Praying” alongside other women artist, while Janelle Monáe had a powerful call-to-arms for the issue about harassment and gender equality in Hollywood. It also featured a sketch about reading the book about the  behavior of the USA President Donald Trump, “Fire and Fury” that showcase a cameo of Hillary Clinton reading the said book.
