The second overall pick of the 2020 NBA draft, JaMorant of the Memphis Grizzlies was undoubtedly the top rookie as the league named him the Rookie of the Year.
Morant had a fantastic NBA year debut despite failing short to the playoffs.
“It’s a blessing, definitely an honor. I put a lot of work in day in and day out. This journey has been rough, but in the end it’s all paying off,” said Morant.
He averaged 17.8 points per game along with 7.3 assists. Sensational all season long, Morant won the award via landslide gaining 99 votes out of 100 over his AUU buddy and number one pick Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans.
Morant added that he will also improve in every category possible as he plans to put the Grizzlies in the playoffs next season.
They were eliminated in the bubble on the heart-breaking defeat against Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers on the play-in tournament to determine the eight seed.
