Terrence ‘Bud’ Crawford continued his onslaught in the welterweight division as he successfully defended his WBO Welterweight World Title against Egidijus Kavaliauskas via ninth round knockout to cap off the main event of the fight headed by the ESPN.
Crawford unleashed his combination in the waning seconds of the ninth as the challenger was put to canvass for the second time in the match. He was able to get up but Crawford immediately threw a vicious right hook sending him down again forcing the referee to stop the fight.
The win was added to his untainted pro record of now 36 wins with 27 knockouts.
Crawford was a bit off to start the fight as Kavaliauskas was the aggressor connecting on several counter punches with a near-knockdown on the third.
He, however, denied that he was hurt on that moment.
“I wasn’t hurt at all. I got up and went straight to him. I wasn’t hurt by no means, I walked through everything he threw all night,” he said.
It was on the fourth round when the defending champion redeemed himself starting to apply the pressure to Kavaliauskas.
Crawford shook his opponent on the sixth before he official ended it on the ninth.
On the post-fight interview, Crawford told that he would fight anybody at the PBC and Top Rank following the news that he will leave the welterweight after the fight.
