Danny Garcia is all but locked-in in facing Ivan Redkach at the Barclay’s Center in New York City.
With the next possible opponent making bigger noise in the headlines than the upcoming bout, Garcia made sure to set aside all the distractions come Saturday night.
“No. Not at all. I’m locked in. I’ve been here before. I’m ready for Saturday night. I know what I’m up against and I never overlook somebody,” he said.
“I know promotions throwing other names to other promotions just to tie it in and make the fight bigger but I’m locked in,” he continued.
He also vowed to acquire more knowledge in the sport as he steps closer to the biggest spotlight.
“I learn something new every time I’m out there. I don’t know yet but I’ll definitely learn something new and adjust from it and learn from it. We’ll see what happens.”
Garcia and Redkach are set to clash in a WBC welterweight eliminator to cash in for the next title match.
One of which is a possible bout with the fighting senator of the Philippines and the only eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.
The camp of Pacquiao will also be in attendance on fight night.
And with the probability of inking a deal with Pacquiao if he comes victorious, the soft-spoken Garcia has nothing but good to say on what could be the biggest fight of his boxing career.
“I used to fight in the undercards as a prospect. Definitely a blessing,” he said.
The American was also in awe during the last two fights of Pacquiao.
“He was good against [Adrien] Broner but he was like the old Manny against [Keith] Thurman.”
Pacquiao dealt Thurman his first professional defeat to win the WBA Super Welterweight belt last July at the age of 40.
