The NBA will hold its annual draft for the year 2020 on November 18, a month before the league’s 2020-2021 season.
The Minnesota Timberwolves hold the number one overall pick’s rights, followed by the Golden State Warriors. The Charlotte Hornets has the third pick and the Chicago Bulls in the fourth.
Anthony Edwards, from the Georgia Bulldogs, is the favorite for the top pick. James Wiseman, who played with the Memphis Tigers, is another frontrunner and the youngest in the Ball brothers, Lamelo.
Ball played overseas with the Illawarra Hawks and the top pick in a mock draft by several sports analysts.
However, there is a rumor that the Warriors are willing to trade their second overall pick to acquire LaMarcus Aldridge from the San Antonio Spurs. The veteran power forward/center is known as a bucket in the low post, which the Warriors need.
He can create more space for the outside shooters like the splash brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, to attract a double team in the post.
Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have no plan to trade their top pick as they continue to rebuild.
They currently have the 2015 NBA top pick Karl Anthony Towns. They also acquired the second overall pick from the same draft, D’Angelo Russell, from the Warriors by trading their 2014 top pick Andrew Wiggins.
If the Timberwolves pick Edwards, they will have a broader offensive lineup with Russel at the point guard spot, Edwards as the shooting guard, and Towns in the middle.
Nonetheless, teams will have to work double-time after the free agency and draft night to ensure that the new players will build the chemistry they will need for the season.
